The Group is a collective of writers, artists and hackers advocating for the right to the city, data rights and economic solidarity. The Group emerged after the 2008 financial crises, in order to do political messaging for Occupy. Since then, The Group has focused on the intersection of geography, class and data, contracting with groups like The Squatter's Rights Movement and The Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, in order to forge new instruments of collective identity, communication and organizing. Our campaigns, tools and networks work against the exploitation of the data self and seek to re-write the possibilities for habitation in the 21st century city. Or, said more succinctly: we make viral marketing about 21st century class warfare in America, on behalf of the groups fighting it.
